John Carlos. Tommie Smith. Lee Evans. Bud Winters. San Jose was fast in the 1960s. It was revolutionary. And if you pull back the sporting lens, the same applies to Silicon Valley.
Our Speed City Mile pays homage to this legacy and we look forward to building upon it!
In 2026 we are offering two (2) 1-Mile races beginning & finishing on Santana Row:
Speed City Open Mile (9AM) – Available to the first 120 who register.
Speed City High School Invitational Mile (9:50AM) – Available to 20 Boys & 20 Girls by invite only in descending order on the CSS 2025 list. Questions? Please email [email protected]

I’m already registered for the Half Marathon & 8K. Can I also do this as a bonus distance?
Absolutely!
This is my only event. How do I get my pin & shirt?
All finishers will get a unique Speed City Mile pin upon finishing! You can pick up your shirt when you get your bib.
Can I transfer from the Half or 8K into the Mile?
Currently, no transfers are allowed.
